Trivia
Sam and Dean make reference to Flight 401, which crashed and parts were re-used in other planes. Afterwards, sightings of the pilot and co-pilot's ghosts were reported. They are referring to the real-life Eastern Airlines Flight 401, which crashed in the Everglades on 12/29/72. The story was documented in the book The Ghost of Flight 401, by John G. Fuller. His book was made into a TV movie in 1978.

Dean masquerades as "Dr. James Hetfield".  James Hetfield is the lead singer of Metallica, and later Dean hums a Metallica song ("Some Kind of Monster") to calm himself on the flight.

When the episode originally aired, you could dial Dean's cell number (866-907-3235) and receive the following recorded message,  "This is Dean Winchester. If this is an emergency, please leave a message. If you are calling about 11283, page me with your coordinants."  11/2/83 is the date of Mary Winchester's death.  When the episode aired as re-run in December of 2005, the message on Dean's cell changed to the following, "Dad? We really need to hear from you. Leave me a message, text me, check your jwinchester1246 email. Anything. We have new info."

Webmasters' Thoughts

Hoppy says, "This plot is very much like Final Destination, but it's still an enjoyable episode.  I always love the silly moments, like Dean commenting that they look like the Blues Brothers in their suits, and how proud he is of his homemade EMF device.  The other great revelation is that big bad tough fearless Dean Winchester is afraid to fly.  Jensen is so hilarious in his portrayal of Dean's fear of flying.  I also love that Sam continues to be haunted by Jess' death, and this is a plot point that does not fade away throughout the season, and it is what drives Sam's character.  His reaction to what the demon has to say is a big part of that."

Jen says, "Nothing yet!"
