Trivia
In the promos, this episode was billed as "The Journey Home."

This episode marks the first appearance of John Winchester in the present day, although he does not interact with Sam or Dean.

When Sam was getting the kids away from the spirit, he tells the girl the same thing his dad said to Dean in the Pilot episode.

Webmasters' Thoughts

Hoppy says, "Another major highlight of the first half of the season for me.  We once again see Dean's vulnerability as he he truly fears returning to Lawrence and we begin to really explore Sam's own supernatural abilities.  Missouri is an effective catalyst for bringing a lot of this to light, but a really ineffective psychic since she isn't able to see that the entity is gone the first time though Sam does.  All in all, this episode works on every level, and the appearance of Mary's ghost is both haunting and sad.  We also get our first glimpse of John in the present day, and what a niec twist that is."

Jen says, "Nothing yet!"
