Trivia
This episode begins with the title screen "The Road So Far" and features a
montage of important plot points leading up to this episode, set to the song
"Carry On My Wayward Son" by the band Kansas.
This marks the first time that the words "To Be Continued" have been seen at the end of a "Supernatural" episode.
Meg gives the location where John can find her as "Wabash and Lake", this is an allusion to the first Matrix movie in which Wabash and Lake is an exit location.
Webmasters' Thoughts
Hoppy says, "Oh man, this is a good one. (I say that too much, I know!) John learns of how strong Sam's abilities have become and Dean finally speaks up to his father about his lack of presence in their lives recently. I think Jeffrey Dean Morgan's acting is brilliant in this episode, especially when he breaks the news of Pastor Jim's death to his sons, and must also deal with the death of his friend Caleb. He plays it with subtle grief but more determination to finish the fight. I also love how we continue to uncover that it is Sam who is more like their father than Dean is, and that Dean is the grounding force in both of their lives."
Jen says, "Nothing yet!"
